A Place to Find & Share Your Activism

Who is ACT:S?

Rally Young People Globally

posted by January 16th, 2012

In just two short months, leaders from around the world are going to meet at the G8 and G20 Summits. World Vision’s top advocacy priority is to renew and strengthen the 2009 L’Aquila Food Security Initiative, which is set to expire. #HUNGERFREE is a global challenge to rally young people (ages 15-30) to influence global leaders toward a hunger free world.

Young people will be challenged to share their vision for a hunger free world through art, photography, prayers, actions and commitments, poetry, video messages, and other creative expressions by uploading them on to the ACT:S website (www.worldvisionacts.org)

Using the ACT:S website
ACT:S is a place to find and share activism. Through an open Web platform, young people are equipped to upload and share their resources and creations, actions and ideas, stories and best practices.

Art & Activism Installation
World Vision will then compile and share these creations through a dynamic Art & Activism Installation in Washington, DC and Mexico during the G8 and G20, as well as through direct advocacy to global leaders and an online gallery.

#HUNGERFREE Twitter Advocacy
During the G8 and G20 Summits, the challenge will be transformed into a Twitter advocacy campaign, equipping young people to use Twitter to call on global leaders to renew and strengthen the 2009 L’Aquila Food Security Initiative, which is set to expire.

Schedule
#HUNGERFREE will launch on April 30 with a video challenge calling on young people to upload, download, and share their resources and actions through the ACT:S website at hungerfree.org.

The Art & Activism Installation will open from May 17-20 in Washington, DC (location TBD) and online at hungerfree.org, when the campaign will also transform into a Twitter advocacy campaign.

On May 21, the challenge will begin focusing on the G20 Summit in Mexico (June 18-19).
