Clean Water Changing Lives in Bangladesh

“The drinking water crisis is acute in our village. The shallow tube well water source is intensively contaminated with arsenic and iron. The surface water source is also polluted in many ways. The main reason behind this is indiscriminate disposal of waste in the water sources in a scattered manner. Even surface sources dry up during the dry season. In a nutshell, this is the scenario of water crisis in our area,” says Nilima Rai, 28, a villager of Machuarkul where Chitalmari Area Development Programme (ADP) installed a deep tube well in 2009 to ensure safe drinking water for the villagers.
